Our Ministry Team at Trinity helps extend the love, comfort and compassion of Christ to those in need of a hot cooked meal. The team cooks and/or serves a meal on the second Saturday of each month down at Hope House.
About Hope House
Background Volunteer Support

Hope House was founded by, and is still supported by, Protestant, Catholic and Jewish people representing our local faith community working together to meet some of the needs of today's society.

Hope House has as its statement of purpose "to maintain a hospitality center which provides hot meals to the needy while complementing, through referral, other community social services."

Hope House seeks to serve:

  • Men, women and children who need a hot meal once a day.

  • Those facing crisis situations or in need of a place of calm and rest from the hassle of the streets.

  • Those who find that there are more days in the month than there are dollars to live on.

Anyone who is hungry is welcome to come and eat free of charge.

Hope House opened in May of 1992 serving 10-12 persons daily, four days a week. In December of 1992, Hope House moved to the 130 Eagle Street location where an average of 130 guests are served daily (5500+ meals per month). The entire meal service operation is conducted by volunteers - 75 to 100 of them each week. Hope House is open 364 days of the year, excluding Thanksgiving when the community provides a holiday meal at a local church. Hope House is strictly a local agency which strives to meet local needs with the help of local people on behalf of local people.

The true success of Hope House will come when it is no longer needed in our community. However much they believe in this long-term goal, the reality is a constant and steady growth of need. New volunteers are constantly needed to help meet the growing need and to relieve those who have worked long and hard (or those who can no longer volunteer due to illness or infirmity). Renovation and upkeep of the building are constant needs. Hope House will continue to rely on our generous community to be our rock; particularly in these days of growing need and dwindling dollars.

"I was hungry and you gave me to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me to drink. As long as you did it for one of these the least of my brethren, you did it for me"  Matthew 25:41
